I’ve just done W3R3 and although from a tiredness/breathing point of view I’m fine, everything from the knees down was hurting during the runs.

Leg pain
Hi Alexandra. I’m about to start W3 and, like you, am struggling with calf and shin pain. I thought it’d be the lungs that were the problem. I spoke to a sports therapist and he recommended dynamic stretches rather than static stretches before runs. If you’re not familiar with them they’re easily found on the internet. Keep it up (and I’ll try, as well!).
I concur with your sports therapist about dynamic stretches pre run but also think that post run stretching, as detailed in the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... are more effective, especially for new runners.
Well done.
As the guide to the plan states healthunlocked.com/couchto5... some aches and pains are to be expected but post run stretching pulls out contractions in your muscles, while they are warm and supple, avoiding carrying them into the next run and improving recovery by improving blood flow.
Appropriate stretching for pre and post run....they are not the same thing........ can be found in the guide.
