I made it.. π: 1st painful week done. Yayyy... - Couch to 5K
I made it.. π
Well done...have you read this post.. essential reading for Newbies
Not sure why painful... but...if it is... take it slow an steady and try to relax You get stronger with each and every run
To be honest I don't know how to run, I run flat.. But I tried to run like assassin but it's still hurts, all my gear is new and right, the problem is me, I don't know how to do it properly. π’π’
You are not a problem at all It is all new and strange and your body does not know what is happening...
Read this link for How to run C25K

Just relax....don't overthink... head out... gently.. just focus on moving...slow, steady..... it will come....
Thank u. I'll check this link out
Well done on completing wk1. Your fitness and stamina will get better as you progress through c25k . Trust the plan it really does work π
Well done! It gets easier, unless you have a daughter that leaves her star wars laser pistol on the stairs making you postpone wk4...grumble, mutter, whinge...then it does hurt lol
Hahaha my daughter leaves everything anywhere.. What week are u in now
Slipped on the toy on thursday, went out & did week 3 run 3 on friday, now my knee really hurts! Was going to do week 4 run 1 tomorrow but will have to postpone (like any sensible person would have done on friday lol). My VO2Max, recovery heart rate & resting heart rate have all improved since starting couch to 5k so keep at it!
Well done, thatβs the hardest bit over. Keep it up π
Well done ccmissy, you beat the doubts in your own mind and went for it! Keep going, slowly. Your muscles are all adjusting but as long as you go at a gentle pace and stick to your rear days (more than 1 is fine too) then your shins should be fine.
Hihihi its my rest day.. I hated to call u fatgirl.. can I call u slim19 instead.? Thank u for encouragement it really helps alot.
Well done! Remember... if you can do wk1 you can do do wk2.. one leads to the next. You're on your way π
Well done, a nice soak in a hot bath with some salts and you will be right as rain
I'm aching all over tooooo. Hahahah love the name. Let's swap.. At the moment I am the greatest moaner here.. Hahah
I don't know I'm pretty close behind hahaha I think we must have started about the same time. Starting week 2 on Monday morning.
Well done, youβve got the first week under your belt.
Take your time and drink plenty of water, especially on your rest days.
Youβve got this! X
And me ccmissy π its my first week over also. I can't believe I'm actually out there running. I do it at 5.30 in morning so that nobody its around to see me and also I don't give myself chance to wriggle out of it as I know I would later in the day. We can do this! Here's to week 2 π
Oh wow.. Congrats for the 1st week. We can do it.. I can't wake up that early, it's my bed fault. Lol. Update me on your next run and some tips.
I really love to run first thing in the morning too, I find it easier somehow except.... I've noticed that the bowels want to start moving half way round and that's kind of put me off now!
Well done to you both though on your first week. I started back in April, never been a runner, had tried to jog on the treadmill but gave up after about a minute! A friend at work mentioned that she had started the C25K one day amd by the time she had got to about week 6, I thought, I've gotta give this a go, she had inspired me. I never, ever, in a million years thought I would even run for 10 mins, but you do, and you will, I promise, just don't give up. I think week 4 was the hardest for me but I kept on with it. Since graduating, I haven't moved on much from the 30 mins running but I'm cool with that, I just want to be able to do that. I did actually run the whole 5k once, it took me just over the 40 mins as of course, when you graduate, the 5k is made up of the 5 min warm up and 5 min warm down plus the 30mins, most people think that by running 30 mins they'll be running 5k. So that is a bit misleading. However, go out and smash it, there's nothing better than reaching the end and getting the little graduate cup
Ps you may wonder why I called myself Bedlinen! I tried so many usernames and it wouldn't accept any of them. So I showed my husband, and randomly put in Bedlinen, and it accepted it ha ha.
Well done! Please read the advise that's been given to you - probably means you will run slower - slow is good- even if someone walking passes you! It doesn't matter - learn the running techniques then add speed later.
Good for you! Bet you didn't think you could finish week 1, but you have. Well done, onto week 2..
I found wk2 easier than wk1because itβs more consistent. You will begin to find your rhythm and as everyone says keep it slow. You can do this.
Well done - youβre on your way!
Well done for starting you wouldnβt believe how addictive it becomes, we never thought when we ran week 1 where it would take us
I'm hoping I will finish the course.. Cross finger..
It really does get better and you will soon be really enjoying it (dare I say even look forward to it). Best tip ever is to take it slow and steady otherwise you will exhaust yourself. Work on getting faster at a later stage. Youβve got this π x
Well done on getting out there, just remember to stay hydrated, take it nice and slow...then slow down a little more π and you'll be fine ππ
Well done! Do watch the video on Japanese slow jogging on YouTube. Itβs a real game changer. It helped me no end.
I honestly found the first three weeks the hardest - I felt like I was running βwrongβ, I couldnβt pace myself, I had terrible knee pain, aching shins, a numb foot ... you name it! I really struggled, had to repeat loads of runs ... but now itβs all started to come together. Didnβt have to repeat any of week 4 and and did W5 R1 this morning with no bother! I canβt quite believe it! So what youβre doing now is probably the hardest part of the whole programme and you WILL get into it and you WILL find your pace and relax, I promise. You should be so proud of yourself.
Wow u done so well. OMG so proud of u.. They say its normal for me to get this pain. Thank u.. X
No, itβs not normal to get pain. Pain is caused by technique that can be injurious to you. If you mean stiffness of muscles during and after exercise, thatβs different, and can be helped with post-run stretches. Outright pain is not good. I hope you just mean stiffness? π
ccmissy, if it is pain as opposed to aching post run its definitely worth getting your gait analysis done. It's free but they will tell you of your trainers are wrong for your way of running.
Emmm not stiffness, painful shin.. Italy running technique.. I try to follow the advise of run like assassin.. But still painful..
Thatβs super! Keep going! Iβve got one more run until I graduate and looking back at week one I was going to give up!!! But just kept on going so you must do the same! Its the best feeling getting through every week and just getting fitter! You will be amazed at how easier it gets! Keep it up!
Hi, well done for starting C25K, thatβs the biggest hurdle done!πAs others have said, just take it slow and steady and find your own pace. Donβt worry what other people are doing, this is about you.
Just take it easy and donβt forget to post on here when you need support and encouragement.π Youβll find weβve all been there and some of us will have experienced whatever issues you might have, so donβt be afraid to ask for help if you need itπ
Good luck with everything, hope all goes well for you!πππ€
