Week 3 done (but I didn’t enjoy it very much 🙈)

Well I’m pleased I did it but a bit gutted I found it such a chore. No pain on this run which was good but kept wondering why I was doing this 🙈. My goal is to get fitter, which I am doing, but very much doubting myself atm. I’m thinking of doing a park run around week 5 to try and motivate myself a bit. Oh well. Tomorrow is another day! 😊

Don't worry! I graduated in February and I still get some runs that feel like a chore! I think the hotter weather definitely makes it harder right now. Weirdly some of my best runs are when I start out feeling like my legs are lead and I am tempted to skip it (but I never do as I tell myself to at least try and then after ten mins something clicks and I'm loving it). And then the runs I have been looking forward to all day and feel are going to be easy are the ones that require the greatest willpower to get through!

Just draw a line under it and approach your next run with a fresh mindset! :)

Thanks CrimsonMama. I felt lots of enthusiasm in the beginning but it’s waned a lot this week. Still, when I read about others who have been through difficult runs, it helps 😊👍

I felt like that in week 3 too. It passed though, and I managed to graduate, although I haven't yet got that love for running I was hoping for. Currently I have completed my first consolidation run, and am considering going out tonight for the second one, but struggling a bit with the self doubt again too. Keep going, you are doing really well!

I’m hoping it will pass for me too Blackcat66. I’m hoping by mixing it up a bit, maybe some new routes, and aiming for a park run that the social side of running will be more fun too. And you know what, you should go for that next run. Youve already graduated so you’re certainly capable! 😊👍

That's a great idea. I run alone and I'm sure I would enjoy it more if I were with others. Thanks. I went for the run, but only managed 25 mins. Went to a park I don't normally run in, and a little.... idiot.... decided that he would try to trip me up to give his.... little idiot.... friends some amusement. I didn't fall, but lost the breathing and rhythm after that and had to call it quits at 25 mins. Needless to say, won't bother with that park again, even though it's absolutely beautiful. Good luck with your next run. Variety is the spice of life!

Wow that’s rough! Maybe just an unlucky day with a Pratt for company 🙈. You got most of the way though. And if you don’t try new places you discover hidden gems so good on you for trying Something different.

Maybe a park run in future? 🤔😊

Good idea. Safety in numbers?! Still working up to a Parkrun. Maybe....!

I don't think I enjoyed running until I got to about end of week 4, it all started to click for me with the slightly longer distances. Legs felt better, breathing got easier. Hopefully you'll find the love too 😊

Fingers crossed grumpyoldgirl. I think part of it was I was finding the nice little 90 second run all but doable and the 3 mins is challenging me. I genuinely can’t go any slower 😂. Im also doing my best to avoid seeing any run past week 3 so I don’t scare myself off lol. I suppose if I can get past the doubt and realise I can do it, I’ll get more positive again 😊

Might sound silly, but you could try shortening the length of your stride just a little, but I'm sure you'll be fine 😊

Well done! I’m on that run tomorrow. I think maybe it’s been exciting so far discovering you can do this, and progressing, and it just feels less like we’re getting better at this point? We are though, I’m sure! I think it’ll be more exciting moving on to week four... then before we know it, week five!!! 🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️
