I hope this isn't a duplicate, I thought I posted earlier but no sign of it on the site (how /do/ you find your own posts?).
Anyway, caution exercised due to hurty knee strapped up with (Insert name of sport supermarket with light blue logo here) heavy-duty knee support for week 1 run 3 on Saturday.
Went out with (small) group from work tonight, strapped knee up at 5, and - well, I got through it. knee and shin very hurty while running, but now (3 and half hours after run) calming. I have 2 days rest before we go out again on Thursday.
I am encouraged.

Hey there, well done for getting out for your run and finishing it! Knee and shin pain sound troublesome, is it from an old injury? Do you think running in a group is making you run faster than you would on your own? I hope the leg feels better soon. By the way, you can see your posts if you click on your profile icon pic, then Profile, then scroll down, you should see Posts, Replies, Followers etc? (that's how i get to mine on my mobile).
No, not an old injury, I turned 60 and had a week in hospital with pneumonia in March and it's amazing what a brush with Death does for one's attitude to exercise Group leader - v experienced runner - stayed back with me while fitter/younger people went a bit faster. My limbs aren't used to it I'll just have to keep going until I build strength. At the moment I think it's uncomfortable/inconvenient rather than potential damage. Thanks for the site navigation tips.
Many thanks for the site navigation tips, muddypaws. At the risk of boring, here's my original W2R1 post -
The knee support is keeping me upright, but the shin(? - the bit at the front of the lower leg) of the same leg (right) feels like it's on fire. Makes driving home a bit of a gingerly undertaken task, it being the accelerator and brake leg. But I got round with the group and wasn't a total wreck at the finish, so I'm encouraged. Spurred myself on by naming some of the reps - 2nd "1 third done", 3rd, "halfway there", 4th "two-thirds down; 5th was tough, but 6th was "last one, you can get through this".
