Week 5 Run 3

Definitely a great feeling to complete this particular one, which I was dreading from week 1. However I ran at speed 7 to make sure I could complete, whereas I did the earlier weeks at speed 8. Am I cheating?

Congratulations to you MelwynD on completing run 3 of week 5, that is a milestone run with C25K, onwards and upwards to week 6 run 1 but be careful about that run as it catches out some people with the interval walks and runs after the non stop 20 minutes of W5R3 which you have just ran 🏃 😊

Cheating is holding the rails on the treadmill and putting your feet up! I don’t think you did that!

Is it cheating to run your longest run slower? Nope... that’s intelligent running. There’s two young upstarts called Mo Farah and Eliud Kipchoge who do just that every single week... they’re doing ok too 🤣

Happy running.

Definitely not cheating, you slow down when you need to, thems the rules of not getting injured.

There is no set speed at which you have to complete c25k.

Were you running/jogging? If the answer is yes, then NO, you weren't cheating!

Would you have failed in a walking race? I think you get disqualified if both feet leave the ground at the same time 😂 sooo maybe you were running after all!

You run for you.. no comparison with any one or how they run...:) You are running... that is all that is needed...

Slow and steady as you move on...:)

Well done on completing the run. Definitely not cheating, I took the pace down for that one as well and because I run on a treadmill I decreased the incline as well!

Thanks for all the positive comments.

Nah, that's just common sense...the best bit of info I've got from this forum is to go slower! Before that I'd go too fast, get tired and stop, or walk for a while! Now I just slow it right down until my breathing improves then keep on keeping on. Enjoy the rest of the programme 😁👍

Thanks. It's tempting to run faster. A person needs to run at atleast 10 KMS/Hr speed if they want to complete a 5K in 30 mins. I'm quite off at 7 KMS/Hr, but will take it slow as suggested by others also.

You're doing really well and although it's called C25K, it's really 3 x 30 minutes in the last week and they say that only around 10/15 percent are running the 5K by the end of the programme! It works out really well though coz it gives you your next goal at the end of week 9! I run about the same speed as you at around 7mins per K and have just done my 1st 5K today in 36 minutes (yay). Now to get used to 5K and then whether to start picking up speed? or going further?...who knows 😁

Congrats on your 1st 5K. Yes, covering 5K in 30 mins is a good goal after week 9. Btw, your speed works out to 8.6 KMS/Hr (1K in 7 mins) which is pretty darn good :)
