I don’t often actually do two runs, two days in a row. I know I am physically capable of it - and remember I’ve been running a few years now - it just doesn’t often fit into my schedule.
My MapMyFitness plan wanted me to run 54m28s (don’t you just love computer brains 😁), but the best I could squash into the time available was 50 minutes, with a very truncated cool down walk to my back gate.
It’s a gorgeous morning out there, and I took Merlin out in his Canicross gear as I was going to run him down through the livery stable (he’s better around the horses if he has a ‘job’ to do). The plan was then to let him free run while I tackled running up the long, sloping track beside the wheat field on the other side as I knew the sheep were at least one whole field away beyond that.
I duly let him off, and was trundling along when I realised the sheep could suddenly be plainly heard and his head had gone right up in interest, so back on his bungee he went.
We got to the stile at the top of the field, and turned back, and at just about at the same point his head had gone up? There was a rustling in the grass, and all of a sudden there was a fox jumping around through the wheat - like the dogs do - Boing, Boing, Boing 😍 So now I’m thinking that maybe it was the fox on the way up as well. It was lovely to have seen it, wish I could have taken a picture, but of course my phone was well tucked away.
Our return journey included a couple of comfort breaks for his lordship, and a trip to the trough with him for a drink. It also included me nearly going through a fence with him after a couple of rabbits when we were very nearly home 😀 but no harm done.
Now I need to have a bit of a wash and brush up before picking up the eldest grandsprocket and taking him to Junior Parkrun.
Have a lovely Sunday everyone.
