A week’s holiday and now an injury :-(

I last ran on 15th June, W6 R3. It was all going brilliantly and I was loving it.

I went on holiday on the 16th, taking my running gear with me but not actually using it in the end because I didn’t have time. We were at Disney with our 2 and 4 year olds and I was character meeting, eating and rollercoastering from 8am-11:30pm.

I wasn’t too worried about losing fitness because there was a LOT of walking involved.

Frustratingly, in the last 3-4 days I have strained an adductor muscle (inner thigh, towards knee). I don’t really know how as I didn’t feel it “go”. It’s quite painful first thing/ when I get up from a rest, but eases up the more I move. However, I don’t think running on it would be wise.

Now I’m worried I’m going to have to take at least another week off (at a guess) and I don’t know where that leaves me with the programme :-(

Any advice gratefully received.

On here it's said you don't loose any fitness in 2 weeks , you'll be ok. Have a few days rest make sure you've no pain and try a run and see how you are . Don't worry your runs will be waiting for you once your fully fit 😊😊

Perhaps try and rerun run 1 or 2 of week 6 to test out your legs and then rerun run 3 of week 6 which is the first of 4/25 minute runs, by then you should be back to your full fitness mode and ready for the longer runs of weeks 8 and 9.

I’m no expert but have got very tight adductors. Have you considered a sports massage? Painful but I found it really helped? Hope it feels better soon

Thanks all, much appreciated. It seems to have eased right up, so I’m going to try a slower than usual run this evening and see how it goes. If I have to add intervals a la W6R1 or R2 then I will.
