June is global PRIDE month... and Strava gave me a rainbow route!!

Just thought I’d share this cool virtual run, organised through Strava by the New York Road Runners... if you run 5K between 22 and 29 June and mark your run as a ‘race’ on Strava - and then tag it with a rainbow emoji or #worldofpride2019, then the whole route magically turns into a rainbow!! Wish I’d done a circular route rather than an out-and-back... Anyway... some clever New York type has even created a run whose route spells out the word ‘love’ on the road grid system!! 🌈😃

Ooh that’s fab! I looked at joining that but as I’m in no danger of doing 5k just yet I decided it wasn’t for me. Next time definitely though! 🌈

Gotta be proud of that run, and I’m loving that just about every organisation is embracing pride this year... we’re all the same, despite our differences.

I guess in New York it’s pretty easy to spell things out on a run map... the closest I’ve seen here was Dave Gorman spelling out “safely” driving in Milton Keynes with one of those trackers insurance companies can send us to prove without a doubt he was driving safely.

Yes!! Even our local supermarket has gone all rainbow!! And... you gotta love Dave Gorman - I’d forgotten about him!!

Very pretty 😊 🌈

In a way it's a shame we have to have pride events. We are all people, we are all different but invariably have the same hopes and fears. Why other members of society can't accept this is beyond me 🤷‍♀️ x

That’s a cool add on to the app “K”! And that 5k time is looking pretty healthy too 👍 good stuff!

Thank you!! I had wobbly ankles on a tussocky track... I’ve got to do ankle strength exercises, appaz, if I’m going to stick at this trail running lark!

U watch those ankles! Every bit as important as your knees u know 😂🤦‍♂️! Good on you for doing the trails tho, I don’t think I’d last 5 minutes running on uneven surfaces #brokenleg 😂

I’ve just joined an ‘all ability’ running club based in our local forest... 🌳🌲... lots of ankle strengthening exercises... (and poss some new trail running shoes...🤞🏼) for me... 😃

Ooh that sounds good!! They will help sort those ankles out and the trail shoes are absolutely necessary 👍

Just had my first meet up today with local ‘all standards welcome’ running group, based in local forest. Did loads of good strength and flexibility exercises... as well as short ‘time trial’ runs. I must confessed that I walked a bit when they’d all disappeared around the corner!! 😉 Was good fun though, and I learned quite a bit! How are your trainers settling in?!

That sounds like fun and nice to join in with a local running group....think I would just be starting as they were finishing 🤣

Mmmm not sure about Mr Brooks they are still giving me jip and we are going to fall out soon so going to wear old ones this week and see if I get same pain.

Will then decide whether it’s bye bye brooks or give them one more chance.

Ooooh... I hope you get it sorted... glitchy shoes are just frustrating in too many ways!! X

Hhm, doesn't seem to work for me...does it have to be exactly 5KM?

Yes! it worked, just took a little time.

Ah!! Great - I saw your original message earlier - and wondered whether it might be essential to join the NYRR club on Strava... so I’m glad it worked out without too much faffing!!

Don’t think I’m anything like close to 5k this year unfortunately - but I’d like to join the growing band of happy runners who are putting themselves up for next year! (Though I may need reminding - the old memory’s not what it was!!).
