I’m getting in the zone for week 5 run 3 on Saturday morning and wondering whether I need a podcast to concentrate on rather than music. Does the app play over BBC Sounds does anyone know,? 🤔
Can I ask a daft question? : I’m getting in the... - Couch to 5K
Can I ask a daft question?
It plays over most music/podvast apps so unless Sounds is different, you should be OK. Only way to know for sure is give it a try from the safety of your living room beforehand.
Oade music playlists containing only 4 minute or only 5 minute songs. W5R3 wasn't a 20 minute run, it was a 5 song run. That's what got me through all the non-stop runs in the final weeks.
Now I mostly run just just listening to the sounds of nature as I crash gracelessly through it...
Ha, thank you. I thought perhaps if I concentrated on something it would distract me. It’s mind over matter I think 😋
Actually in weeks 7-9, I got so fed up listening to the same podcast over and over that I only used the app on the first run of each week and just listened to music on the other 2 runs.
I've removed from my playlist all the songs that were less than 4 min, It made me feel the run was longer!!!
I gave up on music because there was nothing slow enough for my rhythm! I now download comedy shows and radio 4short dramas on bbc Sounds. Works a treat. Jo whiley talks I’ve the podcast so you may lose a short bit but then it just continues. If I go across to Sounds the app freezes on the screen but it the whizzes forwards to where it should be when you go back to it.
Happy running!
Good luck, I plan to do this run tomorrow or Saturday
I don't think I've tried BBC Sounds with it so I'm not sure, but there's an app called Podbean that has loads of different podcasts and audio books and C25K definitely works with that. Give it a quick try in your living room before your run just to make sure. I switched to podcasts around this stage to distract myself from my legs!
I use BBC Sounds to listen to Desert Island Discs/Private Passions while running (can recommend David Wilson, Tom Daly, Bob Mortimer in particular). I've found that it works with the C25K app and the sound fades while the coach is speaking but it doesn't pause so I miss a sentence or two but I then catch up on the missing bits later.
Not a silly question at all! I’ve not been running to music but have been trying out other apps for after C25K and they appear to be interrupted by Michael Johnson so guessing music would be the same? 🤗 x
It definitely runs over BBC Sounds. I have found that I much prefer running to podcasts as the beat of music never seems to quite match my strides.
