Felling drained

Hi all, just run week 8 run 2 and today was the first time I felt like stopping 5mins from the end! I felt that I had no fuel in the tank and my legs felt shaky and was so glad to get to the end. I didn't have much to eat today and is it better to eat plenty carb on run day? Especially with the longer runs? Thanks.

I’m with you I’m still finding each run so tough. Just hoping that it will become more natural soon

I'd say, you just had a bad run- don't let it put you off. The next one will probably be fine.

No need to have extra carbs at this point. Just make sure you are well hydrated and if you are struggling, slow down a bit and keep going. You did it- well done!

Thank you, as you say hopefully just a bad run.

This is about experience. When I started a good run produced euphoria and when I had a bad one, I felt it was the end of the world. Nearly two years on I accept that I have good runs and I have bad runs- like everyone else- that's just the way it is :)

Just try going even slower and make sure you drink plenty water 7 days a week . You can do this 😊😊

Well done you made it!

I did W8R1 today and like Noodles7 it’s still a huge challenge - struggling a bit with my shins tonight. Not sore but I can feel something. Anyway see how I am tomorrow as to weather I’ll run on Friday.

Keep going as I know you will. Let us know how you get on. I’m sure R3 will be a lot better. Hydrate, stretch and rest tomorrow. Have a good one and happy running 🏃‍♀️

Snap! Just done W8R1. First time I felt I’d had a proper work out - Pheww! It’s got to be doing us some good, surely! I found it tough but I managed to keep going, even though quite slow in places (some rough ground and some uphill bits). As I ran I was thinking about my heart, lungs, stamina, mental state, muscles etc etc and the benefits of the running to all of them. I’m hoping it will get easier. I think it will. After all I couldn’t run for 5 minutes when I started.

Well done! We did good 😁 I know it’ll get easier just really really looking forward to it 😂😂

Exhausting myself is the best part of my day I suppose! thinking back on week 1 wow we have come far. I was as stiff as a board and breathing like an asthmatic donkey at the end of it. Puts it all in perspective.

You sound short of fuel: water (day before and before run) and yes do have some food before running. Some people have a banana, cereal bar and run 30 minutes after. I personally have yoghurt, fruit and oats and run 90-120 minutes after. When I've not eaten I have much harder runs.

Anyway you did it so well done!!
