Um.
Apparently I can run fast when my Garmin isn’t there to beep at me?
Plan said run for 12 mins at 7:29/km
Then do 3 x (2 mins at 5:28/km, 3 mins recovery).
Then 10 minutes more running at 7:29...
But apparently I set off rather fast, which explains why I found it so hard to keep going when it came to that recovery run at the end 😮. Normally I have ‘coaching’ on on MapMyFitness as well, and it would have told me that, but I turned it off the other day, when I just went for a trundle, and forgot to turn it back on.
I really wanted to get to the local top to get rid of some big rubbish (deceased sofa bed arms) before the expected storm later, so I did that then went to the park where I do Parkrun. As I find running laps more than a bit monotonous, which is one reason why I don’t do Parkrun more regularly, I actually put an ELO album on to listen to instead of an audiobook, and I’m glad I did because the runners in the park at 8am - and there were a fair few - were not the sort to say ‘morning’ or smile, or nod or, come to that, even make eye contact. It was weird.
Betty the Garmin couldn’t find a satellite for a whole lap 😣 it was very frustrating, though luckily she did find them shortly before my first fast interval started. But then I couldn’t really tell what her beeps were trying to tell me over my music... oops 😬
I’d planned to actually run the Parkrun course, but when it came to it I couldn’t face trying to go fast up the slopes, so stuck to the flattest paths instead. CHEAT! I hear you cry.
I don’t care, I got to run with the scent of a pineapple gorse wafting in the breeze, and it was very pleasant. I did my static stretches near it afterwards too - though that did mean I had to go and find it first! - sheltered from people who might have thought I’d collapsed 😉
On the plus side, I aten’t dead.
On the minus side, my new ASICS still give me slightly numb feet - towards my smaller toes - by about the 20 minute mark. Which I already knew, but was hoping would get better as I got more used to them
