Aching legs...

I am now on wk6r2 and have noticed that my legs (thighs) ache permanently to the point I have to take painkillers to get through a day at work. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi

How much water are you drinking ? How fast are you running and how many days are you leaving between runs ?

Try and slow down and make sure that you are drinking enough water (2-3 litres per day even on non run days).

I hope they feel better, you could maybe tey leaving 2 days between each run ?

Thank you, if I’m honest it could be a water issue. Not running fast and try to run Mon, Wed and Fri. Will take your advice, 😊

As backintime suggests, hydration makes a huge difference. Also make sure you do your post run stretches properly. It's only recently that I learnt why my quad stretches didn't feel like they were doing anything. Whilst I looked like I was doing what the picture showed, it was the subtle placement of knee, pelvic tilt etc that makes the stretch work. Bingo no more achy quads 🤗

How much strength and stamina work are you doing now, on some of your rest days.. as the runs get longer you do need to up that... the running legs are growing .. your strength and stamina needs too as well..

The guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... gives advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises all of which will help.

hi Tracey1961puffedout, you doing well getting through the runs, like Jogunlikley suggested , are you doing stretch exercises and are you doing them correctly. As the weeks have progressed I have found the exercises really helpful 😊👍
