This is Céret in France where I come as often as possible. Every September they organise a 6km hilly run and a 20km very hilly run (dominated by visiting Kenyans).
No more than dog walking fit, I announced to my wine-swilling pals that I was going to try the 6km in 2019. General hilarity.
I started by telegraph pole running and found that I had legs of concrete and someone had put a bouncy tyre around me.
Then I discovered the C25K app and started off in walking boots. BIG MISTAKE. Ended up with a sprained back.
Back in the UK I bought proper trainers and graduated in December. Since then, I’ve tried all sorts of runs including steep gradients.
I arrived back in France last week and completed the 6km course on my own.
Thinking of trying the 20km September 2020 but I’m keeping that to myself!!!😁🤫
