This is Great news since I only started training a few months ago. If you are wondering What I have feel free to ask Questions. I'll give it to you what I have in Brief. I have a Disability called Dyspraxia. In Short it basically it Effects my Cordonational Skills such as walking and Talking and does affect me mentally as well with Organization and planning. that's How explain it to people but I will give you the Description taken from the the Dyspraxia Foundation Website.
"Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD), also known as dyspraxia, is a common disorder affecting fine and/or gross motor coordination in children and adults. DCD is formally recognised by international organisations including the World Health Organisation. DCD is distinct from other motor disorders such as cerebral palsy and stroke, and occurs across the range of intellectual abilities. Individuals may vary in how their difficulties present: these may change over time depending on environmental demands and life experiences, and will persist into adulthood.
An individual’s coordination difficulties may affect participation and functioning of everyday life skills in education, work and employment. Children may present with difficulties with self-care, writing, typing, riding a bike and play as well as other educational and recreational activities. In adulthood many of these difficulties will continue, as well as learning new skills at home, in education and work, such as driving a car and DIY. There may be a range of co-occurring difficulties which can also have serious negative impacts on daily life. These include social and emotional difficulties as well as problems with time management, planning and personal organisation, and these may also affect an adult’s education or employment experiences."
This is what I have it does affect my ability to run but it's the taking part that counts it dont let me stop living a normal life. I also work for the foundation as a youth Champion. I do enjoy the running even If I do Fall I just get up and carry on

Welcome fellow Dyspraxic!! Hardly anyone has ever heard of Dyspraxia but it runs very strongly through my family. Hasn’t stopped me qualifying as a nurse or later progressing in to a role as a University Lecturer, I’m currently completing a Masters degree while also moving house to start a new job and supporting my daughter through GCSE exams so my planning and organising are absolutely maxed out at present. Thankfully I’m on leave this week so I can let myself have a few duvet days. I think most people struggle to understand that fatigue that comes from normal activities because of the dyspraxia. I’m working my way through week 2 at the moment, also have arthritis and hyper mobility on top of the dyspraxia so was advised for years that I shouldn’t run because it was too high impact. However, I’m enjoying the runs, some days are definitely more fatigued and knock-kneed than others, today was a struggle for instance but I covered 2 miles in my 30 minutes. I also went for a cycle for the first time in 5 years yesterday(had knee surgery and hadn’t been back on a bike since) so I think this may have contributed to today’s run feeling less than smooth.
Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.
This forum is primarily for those working their way through the NHS Couch to 5k programme, which is designed to get new runners running for thirty minutes in nine weeks.
You may find a carefully structured training plan, such as C25K is a useful way to build up your running duration with minimal injury risk.
I have been using the C25K app using Jo She has really helped Push me when sometimes the running has been Tough in the first couple of weeks thanks for all the Support everyone its been amazing.
Hello DyspaxicRunner, I am also Dyspraxic (and Dyslexic too) and hardly anyone knows about this is and how it can effect you. This has lead me to feel so self conscious that the thought of going out and running in public terrifies me however I am trying to do it in my own way using a treadmill at home (as a fellow dyspraxic you will understand that this in its self is a major challenge - me and running in a straight line don't go together). However, It hasn't stopped me doing what I wanted to do up till this point in my life so its not going to stop me now!
