I have had a hacking cough with horrible copious sputem every morning for 6 weeks or more.. it has waxed and waned and I’ve done a couple of 30 minute runs but have given up since this doing it as regularly as I’d like... it’s affecting sleep and that seems more important. I have not stayed off work but possible ought to have... don’t know when this will get better so when I will get to run again.. maybe should just do little 15 minute efforts to keep from muscles ache..

Any advice on lingering respiratory illness which then impacts drive to run...

I’m a non smoker and never had anything like this for over a decade...

You poor thing. Have you had it checked by a doctor because that is a long time? What might have started as a virus could have become a bacterial infection. Short runs will help keep you fit for when you can get back to running. And just go slow. But get to the doctor as soon as you can. Hope you feel better soon.
