Chewing gum for dry mouth?

One of the things I hate experiencing during a run is a dry mouth. I try to remember to chew gum as drinking water seems to make it worse. Anyone else got any tips, please?

I always pop a mint chewing gum when I set off. It really helps but loses all flavour by the end of the run.

I suck a cough sweet, helps with my dry throat.

That’s another good idea. 👍🏻

I get a dry mouth too!!! I thought I hadn’t hydrated enough the previous day. I like the chewing gum idea but it’s probably a distraction from the breathing isn’t it?

Think about how you're breathing..you might be breathing in through your mouth which is causing dryness. Try to control your breathing more deeply, breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth, if you're not already. If you are already..yeah try gum or boiled sweets, the boiled sweets will boost your energy too. You can get specific running ones I believe.
