Dont worry as long as your running slow is good 😊

I’m exactly the same. Week 6 finished at my own slow pace.

Someone on here advised me that it takes different muscles to run than walk so they have to be build them.

The only way we can go is faster.

I completely understand how you feel. I start week 8 run 1 tomorrow and the most distance I’ve covered during the program was during week 1 when I was mostly walking. You are doing a great job sticking to it. Pretty soon, hopefully, we will be able to speed up as we get more comfortable with the distance.

Happy running!

The difference between running and walking is gait, not speed. Speed may come later if you want it to. At the moment what matters is that you’re running at all.

I'm still very slow at running, but the fact I can do 5k without stopping is a real achievement. I used to worry about speed but I don't now....the fact I am running is ok for me...you can increase speed later if you want to....it will come.

Lizcat as with the others I am exactly the same. The way if see it is when I walk there is always one foot on the ground. When I slow run there are moments when there are no feet in the ground lol. The best advice I ever found was the article on here about slow running. Game changer for me. Really helped me focus on time rather than distance.

Do you have a link to that please? I’m slow and it’s not getting any easier 😰

Now you are asking lol. Hmmm I am not sure where it is saved. I followed a link myself. Let me see if I can find anything. If not, hopefully someone in the know might know. Basically it just said go as slower than a slow thing as you need to go to be able to complete the time b😁

Hi. I just put in nico nico Japanese running and watched a you tube...really helped my technique (no pain in knees now) but has also slowed me down! As I'm only on week 4, not going to worry about that at the moment as my stamina and feeling of achievementhe is improving. Good luck.

As Micheal states it’s about the length of time we are moving.

Building up the strength and longevity of our runs.

Up to w7 r2 next and never thought I would be there.

You can do it but at your own pace.

Don’t worry about speed whatsoever- I thought I was snail crawling speed but then slowed down even more so I could complete a few runs. It was not till week 8 when I noticed my pace was getting better according to MapMyRun. To me I was still crawling around but was able to keep going, graduated yesterday averaging 7:23 per km compared to 12+ when I started.

W7d3 - I felt the same but today my hubby came out with me. He has extra long legs and his walking pace is way faster than mine so we thought he’d be able to brisk walk and keep up with my super slow jog (40min for 5k). I’m thrilled to say that this was not the case. He had to take several short cuts to meet up with me at later points lol. 😃😃😃

me too....but you are RUNNING not walking and to me that is worth noting. I am still pottering along even after completing C25K and am in awe of other runners that whizz past and disappear into the distance, but hey I don't care as 3 months ago I would not even have been in running shoes let alone thinking of going out in all weathers. Keep going the slow pace will get you in good stead for the longer runs as you will find it will take you further. WELL DONE!

Well at least you are doing it you have got this and well done for completing week 6 yay. And at least you haven’t stopped you have carried on and going slow is what you have to do I do the same go slower and stretch before and after and hydrate well before and hydrate more in general I have found out it helps me a lot I’ve got one last run of week 6 and I’m looking forward to it 😉😉🏃🏼‍♂️🏃🏼‍♂️

I did my first week 9 run last night and I'm so far under 5km I feel I might be going backwards. So this thread is encouraging. Thanks all 😃
