To the lovely lady in Albert Park Abingdon this morning

โ€ข19 Replies

Dark hair, dark pink running jacket - we chatted and you said you were doing day 1 of c25k. I just wanted to say well done, you were doing brilliantly, really running at a decent speed for the first week. I would offer to run with you when you finish, but i strongly suspect you will be faster than me.

Wow, hello!! Thank you very much, thatโ€™s great to hear! I must admit, I was absolutely knackered at the end!! I think the next time, will be easier, I hope!! Might see you again! x

Oh, Hi Maria, nice to put a name to a face. Honestly, you were doing way better than I did on day one. I literally thought I was having a heart attack! Then week four i was beaten up a hill by a wheezing old man on a zimmer frame :(

I live in Ock St, and we often walk the dogs in Albert Park, so the chances are we will run into each other again. I have a leg injury at present after a 15k charity run, so I will have to build up slowly again and will probably be shambling round at the same time as you - BTW the leg injury wasn't caused by the run, in case you're worrying; it's an old injury that i annoyed when packing and cleaning to move recently x

๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜ Thank you! You didnโ€™t see me at the end!! I wasnโ€™t able to speak to anyone!! Iโ€™ve been wanting to do it for years, but never had enough courage, but I was inspired after watching the Marathon yesterday. Iโ€™m hoping to go again this week, then on Saturday. Donโ€™t know how Iโ€™ll feel tomorrow yet though! x

Youโ€™ll be fine. Just make sure you get the three runs a week in and take your rest days ๐Ÿ˜Š and donโ€™t be worried if you have to repeat a run. Youโ€™ve got the right attitude and your running style. looked really good. Stamina comes with time. Trust the program and your body x

Hi Mariasoria welcome to our lovely running home ๐Ÿ˜ well, you've done so well for your start to C25K and so much better than I did. My chest was so tight, I was gasping for breath, haha. Ooh, I hope you enjoy it hear, there are some really lovely people and I've bonded with many, but most of all they are supportive in every way xx ๐Ÿ˜Šโค๏ธ

Hi lovely, are you still running? I only see your walks on Strava xxx

I haven't ran since RED January Flick in January. The reason being is because I've been having repeated palpitations and my energy levels for months now have been low. As a result, I had to wear a monitor for 48 hours, but thankfully, my heart is good, although at rest, my pulse is a little fast, so need to keep a check, but the palpitations can be caused by lots of factors, but moreso stress, as I have a fair bit going on.

I'm hoping to either restart or try week 3 or 4 of the C25K and start again. Such a defeat and when I see others that graduated at the same time as me, I can barely even think about running 5k, let alone 10k. Such a shame and I shouldn't beat myself up over it, but I've lost hope for running since January, but I want to continue it though. Plus it's time aswell and the walking has been tight to fit in, but because the dogs have to go out, I do it, or my son will take them instead.

Aww, thanks for asking, that's really kind of you. Sorry to bombard your post, it's not like me to waffle on ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ˜˜ xxx

Sorry to hear that Beth! Goodness, poor you! We're both starting from an earlier stage then. I saw my GP yesterday and she advised me not to do Oxford Town & Gown 10k race if i don't want my knee to swell again. I have to build up slowly again with intervals. Very frustrating, so I feel your pain. Like you, I can't imagine doing even 5k right now. I get out of breath after 10 yards! And please don't think you're bombarding me. I think everyone is sick to death of my wingeing about my leg. but like you say, we are a supportive community. I really hope the stress eases and your heart settles down. Huge hugs and love to you xxx

Aww Flick, I totally and absolutely sympathise with you and your painful knee. You do so swell though, what with your asthma too, really well and I can only look up to you. We can only take it easy and slowly, we're not in it to be better than the next, but I kniw when I ran regularly, that it's just instinct abd bsturally to want to progress further each time. We have the time ahead if us to do that and I'll be with you every step of the way. Alwats routing for you โค๏ธ๐Ÿ˜˜ xxx

โ€ข in reply toquirkybee

Thank you Beth. Take heart. I did 1.12k of intervals yesterday, and by the end of it my breathing was fine. Knee a bit niggly today, so I'll rest today and run tomorrow. I don't have asthma BTW, thank gods, but am allergic to my own dog (the collie/spitz x) and he's moulting like mad now. The inhaler helps but doesn't clear it totally. But summer is coming (to turn Game of Thrones upside down) and I run better then. And don't look up to me! I'm a disreputable old bat and will only lead you astray, LOL. xxx

Oh sorry Flick to have assumed that you had asthma, it wasn't intentional, I have obviously missed something somewhere regarding your inhaler and the reasons for using it. But yes, thankfully you don't have asthma ๐Ÿ‘ Those intervals sound good and I think it's sensible too. I will aim for that, but want to kick start my running with the C25K first ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜ xxx

I didnโ€™t mind about the asthma thing- just donโ€™t want to get sympathy for something I donโ€™t have. Iโ€™m rooting for you with the running. Weโ€™ve been friends on here and strava for ages, part of the original gang xxx
