I am consolidating at the moment but still having real issues with my breathing. Last night because of the heat I had to stop at 25 mins as I just couldn't gasp any oxygen .
I am "running" slowly aka Japanese technique and only covering around 3.5k in 30 mins but I still can't run and hold a conversation (can only just about raise a smile for fellow joggers on my route).
Has anyone had the same issues and able to offer any advice

This may be a silly question, but are you taking deep breaths in? It’s easy to breath too shallow and so not fill the lungs, especially once we become aware that we are starting to struggle.
I agree with UnfitNoMore....deep breaths in and out and try not to think about it if you can as it should come naturally in time. I don’t breathe through my nose and keep my mouth open as I breathe in and out and find that’s easier.
If your really struggling then stop and take a deep breathe in to rectify it.
Try to breathe as suggested above and then on every fourth or so exhalation blow everything out of your lungs to make sure you have no stale air in there.
Thanks all! I had a consolidation run last night and consciously tried long deep breaths instead of shallow and enjoyed my run so much more. My mins per km went up from 8.20 to 9.45 but it was much more enjoyable. Don't think I will ever complete 5k in 30 mins but so be it..
Hi - just found your thread whilst browsing... and was very interested as I too am a very, very slow "japanese slow jogging" fan.
Learning to breath when running was my biggest fear...as that was what stopped me as a child (probably cos I wanted to go too fast and just held my breath and collapsed very quickly)...
So, when you mentioned 3.5km in 30 mins (that would beat my best time and longest distance so far!)... I thought - hey-ho - you can DEFINATELY go slower!!! LOL and - yay, you did, AND you enjoyed it! So now you can work on speeding up very, very slowly!
