Pain when running, ITBS?

Hi all, I’m a recent convert, hated running when I was in the army, ( all the shouting took away the fun!) but after 20 years I’ve discovered the fun in run! However after about 9 months of doing park run and other 3 to 5 mile runs I’ve started to get pain running down the outside of my right leg, around the knee, I’ve looked on the web and it could be Itbs. My question is how do I cure it? I laid off running for 4 weeks ( which drove me crazy) then went for a ‘gentle’ run, after about 1.5 mile the pain started so I stopped, I then walked back, the next day no pain where previously if I continued the run the pain lasted 3-4 day.

I can’t tell you what the pain is but I guess a trip to a sports physio might be in order?

The pain is persisting so you need professional medical help.

It has only happened 3 or 4 times, but it is the last few runs I’ve done

We are not medics on this site and while someone may identify with your symptoms and offer advice, treating an issue on that basis is not advisable without the opinion of a medical professional.......symptoms may be similar, while the condition and remedy may be very different.....we are all individuals.

Do you stretch after every run?

Are you wearing proper running shoes fitted after a gait analysis done at a specialist running shop?
