First Run!

Hey guys, I’m a little nervous as I’m due to start today!

I haven’t done anything in a long time, so quite worried about donning the running trainers and getting going for the first time probably since I did P.E in school.

I’ve had a look through some past posts and I’m already quite relieved to see that others felt the same way before their first run and smashed it, so feeling a bit more optimistic so thank you already.

We’ll see if I still feel that way after the run tonight 😂

Go for it! You'll feel brilliant when you finish as getting out there is the hardest part by far! Good luck!

Thank you! Got all psyched up and it’s started chucking it down here but I’ve got into the mindset so will be doing it after work regardless, as I know if I don’t start it today then I never will!

I'm lucky that I live in a sunny place and train by the beach 3 times a week. However, when it rains, you just have to get out there the same. Be careful you don't slip and just wear some protection against the elements.

Ah that’s amazing! Not so much sun in South Wales here so I’ll have to get used to running in the rain! Thanks so much for the support! 😁

Hi, I was in the same place as you back in January but if you take it one run at a time it's amazing what you and your body can do. The app is great too, Laura is my new best friend, she just doesn't know it!!

Like you I hadn't run since cross country at school and I'm 49 now... I'm on week 7 now and thoroughly enjoying the experience. You will be fine, keep it slow and steady and you'll soon be questioning what you were worrying about!

Well done Willow947 you won't regret it. I started on my 62nd bday in September now I love running 3 times a week. No need to be nervous, the plan is brilliant and it works. Dyou mind if I give you some tips? 1. Keep it slow and steady right through to graduation. Slow is better 2. Take your rest days. This is non negotiable and will help you avoid fatigue and injury 3. Keep posting on here. The advice and support and motivation is brilliant. Good luck and enjoy it!!
