On week 7:2 should I attempt hilly park run?

Hello, I just wondered if anyone could advise me, tomorrow I should be doing my week 7 run 2 and was thinking of doing it in a park run (still just the 25mins running though and walk the rest) but Crystal Palace is quite hilly and I’m used to running on not such a hilly service...even if I take it slow, is this a bad idea? Thank you!

I love parkrun and have run every weekend possible since my graduation.

If you do take part, start with your usual C25K program including the 5 minute walks, and don’t be tempted to go faster or further than your other runs. Then you can walk the rest of the course.

Personally, I would stay away from hills if I hadn’t run them before because of the risk of injury at this stage. But only you know how you and your body will cope based on your previous runs. Don’t forget, you can always walk it all and still soak up the atmosphere.

Dear Dexy5,

Thanks so much for your advice, it was really helpful and today I went on the Dulwich Park Run for the first time and it was a great experience - thanks for taking the time to help! Hope your running goes well.

I’m really pleased that you enjoyed your 1st parkrun. I did number 34 today, this time last year I was still doing C25K.

Great advice from Dexy5 . I agree. If you are going to do the Parkrun enjoy it. But stick to the plan, don’t be tempted to do anymore or go faster. If the hills are tough walk up them. But Parkrun is amazing and you’ll love it.
