W4r2 legs gave up with one minute to go!

So I did my W4r2 today, but didn't plan it very well as I got to the stairs that lead out of my park with one minute to go, and my legs just said 'nope not taking you any further', ended up dragging myself up the stairs and walking home!

Feel really rubbish about it and wondering whether to repeat that run or just carry on?

Has anyone else been in this position?

Also, am struggling to fit in runs on alternate days with work and other exercise stuff I do (bootcamp one night, pilates another) so sometimes it's been 2 +days between runs.

Should this make a difference? Don't want to undo my work and regress by leaving too long between runs, but am NOT getting up at 5 to do pre work runs!!

If you are not convinced that you fully completed the workout, then have a rest day then repeat it, as described in the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

This is a training plan, not a tick box exercise.

Having two rest days between runs is better than overdoing it if you are doing other stuff.

Relax and enjoy it.

I don’t think at that stage I’d have run up those steps either... don’t worry about the planning, just turn round if you reach them again. You’re doing great, we all get runs that don’t go according to plan so no need to be feeling rubbish, celebrate what you did instead, it made you stronger and fitter for next time.

In the last 3 weeks I started leaving 2 days between runs and actually found it was better, I didn't suffer from tired legs so much.

All thru this forum you’ll see everyone sharing the ups and downs. We all have our successes and our Not-so-successfuls. There’s been times I’ve seen this leg freeze coming and so instead of going up that final hill I’ve re-routed to go downhill or flat. It’s probably cheating but means I’m still running for the whole time. The 9 weeks took me 4 months! So what. I’m now a runner!

I take two rest days between runs, don't worry about that. I did something similar recently, I was supposed to keep going along a path but I was really struggling, and I reached a short cut home as I finished a run section, so I just headed down the short cut and walked home! 😨 Next time, I did the run properly. Running up steps is difficult though, so next time, just run back and fore for the last minute, then you can walk up the steps guilt free 😇

Hi been there...don't worry about it or beat yourself up this is for you and you do it at your own pace that is the beauty of it. Nobody is looking over your shoulder and you know like me you will put it down to a bad day run (it happens) and you will be looking forward to the next one. You have come so far and should be proud...
