W5 Run 2 - Legs gave up!

Have been bumbling along fairly well until now - W5 run 1 was OK, I surprised myself by being able to do it first time. However, Run 2 was a disaster (well maybe not a complete disaster, I managed the first 8 minute run), but couldn't do the second - my legs just decided not to co-operate, and were like lead - couldn't run, could just about manage to put one in front of the other to walk home. Anyone else struggled with moving from run 1 to 2 in this week? A horrendous cold arrived the day after, so am wondering if that might have something to do with it? Any advice gratefully received.

The plan really does up the game in week 5, best to give it another try once you're back to full health. Don't be too down about it and make sure you have a good stretch before you take on these longer runs. Good luck.

Blame the cold, rest up and get well then come back with a vengeance.

You can do it!

Thanks for the support - I'll get there in the end. It's surprising how much it helps being told you can do it!

You were coming down with a cold, hence the lack of energy..Rest up, get well, don't worry and get back on track😊..

Week 5 is a goodun' and you will be able to do it once your feeling better.x

Blame the cold you were probably already under the weather. Keep warm and hydrated and go out again when you feel fit and fab

Lots of folk have been upended by this week...you were obviously fighting a cold, or a bug, anyway, which would not help!

Rest up.. feel better and then head again...slower than slow and steadier than you can imagine. You can do this.. just know in your head that you will get there :)

Thanks Oldfloss , will do - slower than slow is my usual pace! Even so, have seen a big difference in fitness level compared to before I started, so am determined to carry on. It's really helpful to have everyone's encouragement :-)

Legs can feel like lead with a cold without a run on top, so yes it will make a difference. You will need more fluid too, so drink plenty (probably a litre more than you think - gosh I sound like Rignold) and then complete the run when feeling better,

Thanks - gave it a miss today as still feeling like my head is full of cotton wool! Have been drinking lots, and plan to try again Monday. Thanks for the encouragement!
