Morning! Apart from actually being able to call myself a runner now, I am for the first time ever posting on forums, which for a self confessed technophobe is in itself quite remarkable! But I still cannot work out how to locate and incorporate the wonderful range of emoji's my fellow C25Kers use, so any help with how to do this this is gratefully received. Thank you. SP

I agree oh curmudgeonly one with your sentiments! I promise to use them judiciously and only because I think they are cute - I imagine you are shaking your head despairingly at this juncture so I will say no more. Perhaps I should just finish with a ..... :) SP

That is a good question, and all depends upon which method you are using to access this forum.

If you use a phone or a tablet with the HealthUnlocked App then you can just use the emoticons that are available from the on-screen keyboard. This will work for iPhone, iPad, Android phone etc.

Another way to access this forum is via a web-browser on a phone or tablet (so you might run Chrome, Safari etc app) and type in the address or have a bookmark for this site. I suspect that this method is not common. Again, if you post you should be able to use the emoticons from the smart keyboard.

Lastly, another way to access this forum is via a laptop or PC with the web browser (Edge, Internet Explorer, Chrome, Safari, FireFox etc etc) and typing in the address or using a bookmark. In this case you probably have a physical keyboard with buttons and no access to emoticons.

But all is not lost, since you can type some of the older emotions on a regular key board. For example if you type : - ) (but without the spaces) then the software running behind the forum interprets that as an emotion :-) . Similarly, the winky ;-) can be entered by typing ; - ) without the spaces. I don't know if it works on this site, but the heart emoticon is often < 3 without the spaces... let's see <3. <edit - OK it does not work :-( >

But you won't get all the rich variety that a smart keyboard on a phone offers.

Just as a test, this is the unicode for the runner emotion U+1F3C3 <edit - that does not work either>

Final point. The "Graduate" badges adjacent to names on this forum don't show up in the App, only in a web browser.

Thanks MarkyD for your comprehensive answer to my question - brilliant and much appreciated. I will most definitely have a go at learning the ones you have shown that can be entered by typing characters - and I am going to have a look at my phone as hubby in answer to that question says it is a smart one (unlike the user ....). Happy running. :) SP
