Could anyone tell me how many calories are burnt on the week 1 runs (and so forth if possible). Using a different app and trying to calorie count.

Im sure it can be calculated but it is dependant on your sex, weight and distance travelled.

I wouldn't fixate on that at this early stage. Becoming a runner will HELP you loose weight together with a change in diet but I would imagine calorie loss is negligible at this stage.

Enjoy your journey.

The My Fitness Pal app told me it’s around 220.

I don’t think calories are a great way to measure. Try Googling glycemic index. That made more sense for me and helped me eat more healthily.

There isn't a hard an fast answer to that - it will depend on your sex, weight and how fast you're going/distance travelled.

I don't think much is lost on week one, it's not intense enough to make a huge impact (especially if your not hitting your daily 10k step count outwith Cto5k)

If your looking to lose weight I'd just consider whatever is lost from the app as a little extra, from a little research most of our step counters and fitness trackers aren't accurate with the calories lost and they tend to say we've burnt more than we have.

Around 200 calories for the first few weeks on the plan. A sub 30 minute 5K run burns around 450 calories. 10K run burns around 1000 calories.

Weight loss on the C25K plan is all about food intake.

Which app are you using? Most apps will have a low, Med or high running input, on the exercise front, I know myFitnessPal does, for beginning I would try inputting the time run on a low intensity and see how you get on. A lot of the diet apps tend to over estimate the calorie burn of exercise, it should also give you a choice as to whether you exercise or are sedentary, I would use this option too as it changes the lowest calorie rate you can have based on your needs, this becomes important when you exercise, it is not good to be too calorie deficient while trying to keep up an exercise regime but the amount is based on a lot of personal details only relevant to you. Good luck. Rfc x

If any app, gadget, website or rule-of-thumb tells you that you've burned over 200 calories in week one, you know it is lying.

If you are calorie counting, then it is better to under-estimate the calories. So use this simple guidance:

Weeks 1 - Week 5r2 : 200 calories

W5r3 - Week 7: 300 calories

W8, W9 : 400 calories.

These include the warmup and cool-down walks and all of the walk/run segments of C25K. As everyone has said, the exact calories burned depend upon many, many factors (age, weight, sex, general fitness, BMR etc) so we can only be approximate.
