101,216. That's the number of calories I have burnt since New Year on walking, running and cycling. It has taken 220 hours and 38 minutes to do that.

Just over 46,000 calories is from running 600 km in 68 hours. A similar amount is for walking a similar distance in 134 hours. The rest is just over 300 km cycling in 16 hours. I set myself a target of walking/running a thousand miles in 2014, and going by these numbers it looks like I might actually achieve that. Yay!

I find it hard to wrap my head around these numbers, and I must admit that I'm very proud of them. When I decided to lose some weight (like more than half of the entire population) after New Year, I was so out of shape that I couldn't even contemplate running the 60 seconds needed for c25k w1r1. So I spent two months building a base by walking and hiking. The rest, as they say, is history, and now, 3 stones lighter, I feel damn good for having given myself this gift of health!

Its scary to see it laid out like that right in front of your eyes!

The depressing thing is 101,216 calories is about what I ate last night.... (Homemade chicken ham and mushroom pie. Mmmm).

You have certainly put a lot of effort into that. I have expended 41,228 calories according to my Runkeeper - which comes from running 557 klms since January1.

Well done Tomas. Running really does help burn those calories fast! I did same as you and did loads of walking to help with the first stage of my weight loss. I started running later when I'd ditched a lot of lard. Started running regularly and lost that last of it. Great feeling to be so much lighter and fitter. I bet you can hardly believe what you've achieved!
