Help! I’m on week three run three and the past two runs have killed my shins!
I have recently had orthotics made for my trainers as I over pronate and have a Morton’s Neuroma so have had to see a podiatrist. I’ve slowly bedded them in!
I have had to have full gait analysis and subsequently bought new trainers (brooks transcend6) to house my insoles!
It was so painful today but I’m lost to the cause as I’m taking it steady and have decent trainers etc!
Any ideas what I can do to eleaviate it?
Many thanks in advance!
Hayley 🙂

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and includes advice on minimising impact, which is one of the primary causes of shin splints.
Well done for your progress, and sorry to hear about your shin splints. The surface that you run on may be a cause, but I suspect that the orthotics are alos making their presence felt and your gait is different from normal. If you can, try and take shorter, more nimble steps and don't over-stride. Do let us know how you get on!
Ouch, sorry to hear about your shins. I've suffered with this condition and given up running on several occasions. Cto5k helped me to build up slowly, but I still get sore shins and can't get beyond 5k without suffering. At one point I went back to week 5 and did the final month again, but I'm still not fully recovered. All I can recommend is taking it easy, run slower (I find that really difficult), perhaps do each run twice before moving on. And I have found ice helps. Plonk a bag of frozen something on your leg every time you sit down to watch telly or read in the evening and keep it there as long as you can stand the cold. I don't know why, but it seems to help my pain.
