Mixed feelings about finishing W8. These longer runs aren’t getting easier so bit demotivating after the progress I felt in all the other weeks. I’m upto 8 min per Km so don’t think I’ll be at 5km on graduation. Signed up to a coached course upto 1Ok at end April. Really hope I’m ready!
W8R3 not getting easier: Mixed feelings about... - Couch to 5K
W8R3 not getting easier
You are doing great you are finishing the runs don't worry about not getting 5k in 30 minutes . I'm 4 weeks post graduation and I'm not quite there yet . 😊😊
You are doing great just take them slow and steady. Just get them completed. Stamina and speed with distance will come.
Your doing so well ! Just don’t worry about the distance, I’m on Week 9 and haven’t reached 5k yet. Go slow and steady and if you listen to music put some really good songs that make you feel positive and you will get there eventually....no rush though.
I have just completed W8R2 after a two month lay off and we’re about the same pace (slow!😉) but we’re finishing each run, and even though it doesn’t seem to get any easier we go back for more as we are mentally stronger as well as physically fitter. For some, the sense of achievement experienced from running for 28 mins outweighs the need to run 5km or run at great speed. So go and enjoy W9 in the full knowledge that you are amazing to have started something alien and stuck at it until it’s completion and will continue running at whatever pace as it makes you feel proud, healthy and positive. Well done you.
I'm consistently running about 8 mins per km too. I haven't found that the runs have got easier, but remember they are getting longer so if they feel about the same level of difficulty then that means you are actually getting better.
I've planned in at least 6 weeks of consolidation... no increase beyond 90 mins running per week, just to get my body used to this much running. I don't reckon I'll make it to 5k in 30 minutes this year, though I hope to eventually.
If you've got this far you have made amazing progress since week 1 when you were only able to run for a minute! Please don't be disappointed with yourself!
Thank you all! The support on here is great. I’ll keep going, graduate and just keep on moving.
