I have just turned 70. Have always exercised and kept an eye on my weight. I swim three times a week and also do pilates. My question is twofold. 1 Am I too old to start running the couch to 5K programme. I used to be a regular runner until about five years ago. 2 Is the programme suitable for someone with osteoarthritis in the lower back?
Oldies,: I have just turned 70. Have always... - Couch to 5K
Oldies,
Welcome to the forum
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and mentions an 83 year old graduate, so answer to question 1 is............age is a number, signifying how many times you have been around the sun...........not a limiting factor.
Number 2........most of us are not medically trained and while running is generally excellent for bone health it may not be appropriate for your specific condition........In other words, I don't know, so ask a medic.
Never too old to start C25K, not sure regarding that osteoarthritis, if you are not sure ask your doctor if it's OK for you to begin a running training program.
Definitely not too old, especially as you were running not so long ago. As for the arthritis, you'll need to ask a doctor. Although anecdotally, some people have felt better once they began the program, but you need an answer specific to you. Good luck!
Welcome....
Well done...
No you're not too old at all.
Please get your GP or consultant to give you the all clear to run...
And then...here we are😊
Too old? No! Age is but a number, and reading your post here... you’re a lot fitter than I was at the start!! You can do this... enjoy that journey.
