So I’ve been doing a couch to 5k group and I’m slow always at the back and feel like I hold everyone up! So tonight I decided to run by myself instead of with the group, 25 minutes done, didn’t stop once and felt nice to not feel pressured 😀

Congrats on the first of the "freedom runs" as I've started to think of them as. I agree - I much prefer running on my own (I've had to say no to people who want to run with me because I'm just not up for it yet and one of you is always going to be faster and have to wait for the other!) :)

Mix it up and do both.... I think I would like to run with others but so far have done all my runs alone.... running in a group will give support.... maybe alternate them

The group are lovely and supportive but it’s my own insecurities that make it difficult as I’m worried I’m holding them up, much more relaxed run by myself, think I will do a mixture of both and see if that’s better.

I always run on my own, hate having someone else setting the pace or trying to talk to me😂

Well done.

In my opinion, you are better off doing C25K on your own, at your own pace.

Nice that there’s a supportive group near you, but solo running gives you the chance to focus on your own targets peacefully - good for the soul ! Happy running, whichever you’re doing x

Thank you, I’m in 2 minds as to whether to continue with the group or do the last 2 and a half weeks by myself, apparently it’s a 4K route tomorrow and I know I’m not going to do that in 25 minutes!

Ouch ! I broke 3k in 9:2 - no way I could have done 4K in week 7 😂

I know it just seems to far a distance for me, I know some of the super quick ones will do it but that’s liable to be 40 minutes for me 😂

Ah well - what’s an extra few minutes between friends ?! My advice would be to do what you enjoy. Forcing yourself before you’re ready makes injury more likely and lowers morale. Happy running x

Thank you and the same to you x

I did c25k on my own. I’m very slow. I’ve since joined a club and started again with their beginners. The club I go to is brilliant. Lots of slow runners like me. I’m in the back buddies gang 😂😂

I think that’s the problem I’m the only back runner, one of the lovely run leaders always runs with me and she’s great but just feel I’m too slow for the rest of the group!

My club do loop backs, so the faster ones cover more distance and the ones at the back then get a taste of being in front 😊🏃‍♀️

My group do that, but I find it really uncomfortable when they run back, it’s my own insecurities not the group, and I seem to get anxiety about it, silly as that may seem 😳

I always run on my own as then I can decide the time I go and the pace I set. Well done you

That’s exactly why I choose to run by myself, - but love having this forum of friendly, enthusiastic runners to share the journey with.To be able to run by myself in a relaxed way, but not run alone is wonderful. 😄
