Wk 6 r3......was on hold all week this week as the household was struck by the sickness/cold bug going round, the thought of walking from car to house was an effort, but had promised a friend we would do Telford Park Run while we were staying there for the weekend attending International Classic dirt bike show, so got to the park at 8:40 to see lots of people milling around and lots having warm up jogs/sprints. Had first timers briefing of the route then got to the back of the masses. Hooter went off and so did we....(didn’t realise quite how many people were there until we were all on top of each vying for run space for the first 1k) Jo Wiley telling me on the app I’ll be running for 25 mins and I could do this....well indeed I could and did and crossing the line in 34m 37sec, I had said to friend if I got home in under 35mins I’d be chuffed!

Lessons learned from this:

I went off too fast, had a not tried to get into open space so quickly in the first k but instead slowed pace I’d have had legs to do the last k quicker.

Park Runs are blinking busy......567 runners in this one this week 😮 but they are also full of lovely people spurring you on and given advice.

I like running!!

The 10K I entered 6 months ago and is happening March 10th looks achievable now and I’m looking forward to it.

Bring on week 7 this week. I’m determined to graduate and even when I have I think I’ll still run the app in the background because Jo’s voice and time checks help!

Here’s to a good week fellow runners!!

Sounds like a great Parkrun and a big one. It is very common to start off too fast, you were lucky you manged to pull it back. great time for your first official 5km too, Well done.
