I’ve been frustrated this week: after the wind died down on Saturday I went for a run, felt stiff as a board but expected it would ease off as usual... but it didn’t. Developed a really tight calf which forced me to stop and walk home after a mile: something I have never had to do before. I have rested since, been stretching plenty and while I have felt fine to run again since yesterday, work pressures mean I probably won’t until tomorrow. However, shiny new running shoes await as tomorrow is my birthday so hoping to christen them in the morning 😊 Interesting that my iffy knee has completely settled though! Happy running, everyone 👍

Enforced rest 🙁

Happy birthday to you Molly1973 for tomorrow, hopefully, you will be able to 'christen' your new shoes by having a run as long as your tight calf has healed itself from the run you had on Saturday.

Just go very slowly. I’ve been adopting the ‘Japanese slow jogging movement’ techniques of small strides & foot placement (search for with the words in ‘’ on youtube & you’ll find the video) as a way to run safely without injury. Even if it’s not what you want to do long-term it may help you over the next few weeks?

Happy Birthday to come. Enjoy those new shoes! 🎉
From one runner forced to rest to another I do hope you feel better and hopefully the calf tightness is just a one off. Happy Birthday and I hope you have a lovely one and a fab run if you can
