So...

Anyone following my trials and tribulations will be aware that my last two runs (W1R3 and W2R1) were not exactly ideal. I ended them both in a lot of pain, and w1r3 specifically, barely able to walk.

Well I’ve made some changes. Small changes, but changes all the same.

- take 2 recovery days in between every run

- drink a shed load more water

The extra two recovery days will put my program from 9 weeks to 12 weeks. For me that’s fine. It’s the goal that matters not the time it takes to get there.

I’ve been thinking that I haven’t been drinking enough water out here in the desert so I’m making a conscious effort to drink more. I drank an extra 3 litres since dinner time yesterday.

Today was W2R2.

The net result of these two changes... slight pain in the shins from the end of the second to last running segment, but nothing major, and a big grin on my face as I realised at the end that I was really happy, despite getting soaked in a downpour.

Thanks for all the support you guys have been showing me. It’s all much appreciated.

Great run , the happiness you feel is that feeling that you've really managed to achieve something really good and you have 😊

That's fabulous news! Well done for making the changes! And you're right that it's not about how many weeks it you to graduate, it's about graduating comfortably and being able to complete the 30mins.

I'm currently on W5 attempting to complete R2 as soon as life lets me today and it took me until W3 to learn that my best pace was making the the running motions at the speed of someone at a brisk walk. It may help you to take smaller strides if you're still struggling? I'm not an expert but I know that helped me massively when I realised how to move slowly and comfortably.

Also I have been fortunate enough to have dodged the downpours on my run days but times can change!

Good luck with your running and I look forward to reading all about your adventures x

Brilliant well done - 12 weeks is fine - you are doing the right thing - slow and steady will get you there!

Great work ⭐️ Learning from the bad runs makes the good runs better ! Don’t worry about how long you take. Everyone is different and you need to make your own path. I started at the beginning of September and I’m still not finished 😄
