W5R2 - runnus horribilus

Well that was utterly vile!

Not the running bit - that was OK. But South Manchester served up its speciality... the weather was the worst I've yet encountered. 4 degrees, driving rain and biting wind. If I hadn't already organised my graduation party, I would not have bothered today. I will never again voluntarily run in that type of weather without seriously thinking about my clothing choices!

Anyhow, enough. It's done and 'm glad.

W5R3 on Saturday and I hope the weather is MUCH better!

Well done for getting out there. I looked out of the window this morning( I live in Sale) and was so glad it’s my rest day. My W5 R2 tomorrow morning so hoping the weather is better tomorrow. Have a good day.

It was truly horrible, but I guess I have to get used to it and just get better clothes. Good luck for tomorrow. :)

Well done, you. Don’t think I would have persevered. Down here on the south coast it looks lovely in the sun, but there is a howling gale of freezing wind! So glad it’s my day for stretching & bending! 😊

Thank you. I very nearly didn't persevere and I shouted a lot of dreadful expletives at the wind and the rain. If anyone had been within hearing distance I'm sure I'd have been reported to the men in white coats!!

Looking forward to the 🎉 party invite ;-). Nice hot shower and the cold will be a distant memory!

Superb job getting it done in that weather. Being just next to south Manchester I can hear it on the windows... still, it beats the snow!

In the summer such weather is wonderful to run in, I find it preferable to running in the dry when it’s hot... but 4 degrees with windchill... my hat is off to you for running!

Enjoy that run 3

That was part of the problem - my hat WAS off... I'm almost always too hot when running but today was a definite exception. :)

😂. Seems we can’t win with the weather this month... roll on March.

It certainly was!

We missed our run yesterday because we went to the zoo.

As we set off for our run, we were wondering whether you had been out yet. I had no doubt that you would do it as I know how determined you are to meet your deadline :)

I thought I might just do a quick 3k or so but once I got going, I revised that to 4k because I missed out parts of my usual route to avoid running into that freezing wind. But in the end a diversion then a lap of the precint and I managed 5k.

I actually enjoyed the run - I like running in rain but could have done without the wind. And I wasn't cold when I finished but chilled down when I went to buy our lunch things. But a warm shower soon fixed that.

See you later

I had to go to bed for 2 hours this afternoon just to stay warm! I'm literally only just beginning to stop feeling cold now!

Yes. I took ages to warm up

Well done for doing it! I’m looking out the window with gale force winds and driving rain and today is my W5R2 day too!! Just bracing myself and psyching myself up to it!! If you can run in that weather though you can do anything!! 💪🏻

I seriously never want to do that again! :)

Not far away from you, and I also braved it, the only benefit of the cold was that eventually the rain hitting my face ceased to be painful 😬

But, we did it!!!

We did! And I'm still cold! :)

I showered and went back to bed, woke up at 10.45 which is unheard of.

Still felt awful all day so I think I am getting some sort of lurgy😶

Oooh I hope not. Keep warm and dose yourself up if you can (and subscribe to that sort of thing).
