W2R3 help!

Domesticbelle profile image
10 Replies

Just completed run 3 of W2 and I’m still sounding like Puffin’ Billy - definitely not the Flying Scotsman. I can’t imagine how I’m going to run for a whole 3 minutes next time. Am I alone in this?!

Feeling very foolish 😣

Don’t feel foolish - you’re doing great. I did C25K last February and couldn’t manage the first week! Lots of advice to slow right down, got my asthma under control and put my faith in the programme. I graduated last April and managed to work up to 10k in the summer. I was amazed at myself! I’m back on the programme again after not running for sometime and know I can do it again. If I can do it, anyone can - keep going and be proud! 😊

As you can see everyone says slow down. I think most of us have been there with this. I find concentrating on slow jog, dropping my shoulders into a relaxed position, unclenching my hands helps when I get a bit puffy. I found when I concentrate on these things and not my breathing it seems to sort it's self out into a rhythm that it likes. I think sometimes we panic when we are short of breath which makes it worse. 😊🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and explains the recommended easy conversational pace, at which you can speak clear ungasping sentences as you run.

If you go at that pace everything will fall into place.

You are doing great.

Enjoy your journey.

There was a point where I thought my breathing was terrible so I slowed right down even though I thought I was going slow and it seemed to help . I'm still working on my pace and breathing on wk8 but it does come eventually good luck

It's taking me longer than 9 weeks to get this far but I'm ok with that I'll finish when I finish 😊
