Can't think of a title for this post

I'm not trying to be a clever clogs or know it all but a post this morning, come to that several posts over the last few weeks have got me wondering. We all, I'm sure read up about this plan before we committed to it, so we know what it entails and the final goal is to run/jog a full 30 mins. So why do we "dread" certain weeks/runs? Yes I looked at the weeks before I started and I gulped at a couple of them, but only for a second or so did I think " I can't do that" cause if that's what I think why did I sign up? To fail? .... A big fat No to failing from me. This plan has worked for thousands who have really committed to it and that's hopefully what we are all doing now.. committing to it. We should not be "dreading" any week/run because completing each one is a fantastic achievement, one of which, given some of our ages and health issues we should be rightly proud of. Instead of saying "I'm dreading w?r?" Try saying "Wow, look what I'm going to complete next week/run". If I didn't believe I could do this I wouldn't have signed up, I don't care if it takes me 9weeks or 9 months but in the end I Will be running/jogging for 30mins.

Sorry/not sorry for long post. Time I got out there w5r1 awaits me. Have a great day everybody ๐Ÿ˜Š

I think for me, itโ€™s going from a really sedentary lifestyle to running is a massive big deal. Eah week I think how will I step this up a gear and I do worry that maybe I wonโ€™t achieve it. However I get what you are saying and I am determined like you. If down the line I have to repeat a run or repeat a week then that is what I will do.

The sense of achievement on completion of a run or a week is amazing.

Happy Running! X

I too read up before I started and realise it has worked for thousands, plus Iโ€™m NOT in it to fail, but i DO dread certain parts as the running time increases. I donโ€™t however feel this is the wrong attitude or that because of this I am not committed!

I wish you and everyone else the best of luck in your C25K journey, however you achieve it.

I started this c25k a year ago and I purposely didnโ€™t look further than the week I was on. I also did not find this forum until W7 I think. Each time I went out, it was with the thought that I would do as much as I can, as starting as a 60 year old with high blood pressure, I wasnโ€™t sure it was designed with me in mind. I ended up running 30 minutes 3 times a week in 9 weeks - the system does work!

This forum does provide the encouragement and knowledge that I didnโ€™t get. Sometimes I think someone saying they are dreading a run is a need to hear someone say โ€œdonโ€™t worry, you can do itโ€

I do understand what you are saying in your post though, sometimes the dread statements come in waves, as others use the same words. I prefer the alternative โ€˜positive thoughts of Jo Whileyโ€™ and ran saying โ€œI love runningโ€ . It kept me going when I clearly wasnโ€™t enjoying it.

I am happy to say that I have now run 10ks, do parkrun every week and have been taken off medication. I really do love running now.

You can all do this too.

You have done and are still doing brilliantly. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป. I'm not bothered about Park runs ... but I might try one just to see ... I just want to run again for a decent amount of time. I used to love the feeling of freedom I got from running all those years ago. I'll never be as fast or go for as long as I used to but just to be able to run the small amounts I'm doing now is giving me a wonderful feeling of being ME again๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜Š

Well done to you too for getting back to running. I didnโ€™t know what I was missing. I never did understand the runnerโ€™s high, but I do now.

Keep on enjoying it ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

I think u made a great point. We are all guilty of doing it at some point on this journey and its a natural instinct for something u haven't done before. And its also Self doubt but I guess it's because there are times wen we don't have the belief in ourselves that we can achieve it and it's those thoughts that give us doubts but we do it and get past it to the next one. We all need more self belief and confidence in what we can do and what we can all Definately achieve when we put those doubts out of our thoughts. However we all continue and we get there and fingers crossed graduate and achieve it no matter how long it takes.
