Today I ran my first run for week 8. It is great!! I do find after training I sometimes get a headache. Anyone else experience this? I’m also thinking of doing the whole thing again and increasing my speed (I run on a treadmill-easier for me to keep track of my speeds). Anyone else tried this?

Congratulations on getting to week 8 of C25K, no I admit I never got a headache when running all 9 weeks, sore legs, ankles and a little sore on the knee were like that after a run. very occasionally I felt I might be sick at the beginning of a longer run but that feeling wore off after about two minutes. Perhaps you are not drinking enough before you run, taking plenty of liquid is important during C25K.

Thanks for tip. I’ll drink a couple more glasses 30mins before my next run. Also have more water afterwards too. :)

Forgot to mention - I stretch for about 15mins post run and take magnesium on training days. This definitely helps with alleviating all aches the next day.

Yes I am sure that will help a lot to ease your aches the next day. Onwards and upwards to run 2 of week 8, hopefully without any further headaches.

Great job... you got this. Headache may be hydration related. You could do as you plan, but the easier way to inject speed is to go on to run further.

Oh ok. I’ll give that a go once I finish the nine weeks. I’ll check in with you to seek some advice as it seems you’re familiar with this. Thanks again.

I’m just starting the path to 10k+ again after an ankle injury (I wasn’t even running) but the elite runners run 80-85% slow and the rest is speed work of some kind... an elite 5k runner will run 16k+ as their long run... one 800m elite went and ran a marathon and then came back from that to smash the world record.
