I have just finished W3R3 and can say I actually enjoyed it!
However, many years ago I twisted my knee skiing, nothing too bad but ever since I have experienced occasional grumbling from it. Now I am 'running' I am more aware of the mild pain more of the time. I'm a 48 year old male packing more weight than I should. I run on level pavements, have a good pair of trainers (but didn't have a gait analysis) and actually think I run fairly light footed.
So the question is are those off the shelf neoprene knee supports a good idea or can they be detrimental?
W4 looks to be a big step up so want to give myself the best chance of success.
Thanks guys.

The honest answer is I don’t know. Some people swear by them but I am more in the camp of find out what’s happening then fix it for good rather than keep patching it up. As your muscles Stregnthen left to thier own devices they can protect the joints and help with niggles. I find running keep my osteoarthritis pain at bay.
I'm no expert runner (W3) , but have had grumbly knees for years (too much netball). I use KTape, just to keep everything in place, but more experienced runners may give you better advice.
Thanks fellow runners. Well, maybe I need to look up K tape. I decided to try a tubigrip. Big mistake, an hour after my run (I decided to do another W3) my knee was worse than ever, weirdly on the opposite side to before, same knee obvs! Not other leg lol. Anyway still giving me grief two days later, which is very frustrating as I should start W4 tomorrow.
