Just starting to do the couch to 5k as want to surprise my dad as he loves running and wants someone to take an interest in it too ( poor dad living with 3 women who would rather sleep than run a park run 😂😂 )
Has anyone got any advice ?
Just worried I will loose motivation as doing alongside university and placements so hard to find the time .
Any recommendation on what time of day to do it , how to motivate yourself , where to do it (gym vs outside ) etc

Just stick at it! The progress is often the motivation you need. That, and it feels so great to have reached another milestone. Running for 5 mins when you couldn’t run 1 - feels amazing! It’s a minor miracle the way it builds your strength and stamina. Main tip fro me would be your run can be slower than your walk if you’re not very fit. This is about building duration rather than speed, or even distance - both these last two can be worked on when you’ve graduated. I run at different times - but see what works for you. If it sets you up in a great mood, why not start your day that way! Or my days chop and change (freelance) so I know I will run on a day and go by weather or around things.
What a great idea. I’d say just start it whenever you can fit it in. About end week 2 or week 3 you’ll start looking forward to it (maybe sooner) and automatically start arranging other parts of life around runs.
I tend to run in the sunniest part of the day because I swear I’m solar powered. I find it harder in winter, but have been out today and loved it 😊
Wanting to do it for someone else can be really motivating. Fit it in when you can - there’s no right or wrong time, but you may find that some times feel more natural for you. Never skip your rest days - you’re asking a lot of new stuff from your body and you need to give it time to adjust. Above all, aim to enjoy it ! Happy running 😀
