... but I did it!
The pavements were icy in places so I had to change from my usual route (which ironically Sarah suggests during week seven). But it really wasn't that bad! I didn't slip once and I found a possible new route to take sometimes. But I found it tough to get into a good mindset or rythm early on as I was scared of the ice and having to try to navigate to the better pieces of pavement. That first five minutes run is always the hardest anyways I think!
Then I came to a lovely big open empty car park that (weirdly) had no snow or ice whatsoever! Just puddles. And I could get into a better feeling run.
On the way back I got a stitch... Which I haven't had since the early weeks! Maybe because of having to watch and change my footing more than usual? But the satisfaction and feel good factor (which is really what keeps us wanting to do this right?) Kicked in and I am very pleased I did it! But I look forward to a 'normal' weather run.
I also couldn't time this run as I had planned as I figured I would be slower than usual on ice.
Oh and I wore an extra t-shirt but was baking hot! It was funny seeing all the couch-potato (ππ) people with their huge coats, hats and scarves slowly picking through the (mostly slushy) ice and looking at me like I was mad! Maybe I imagined it lol but I am certain they thought running in this is crazy!
As I said though... I didn't slip once! Then after when it was the school run and I changed into boots I was slipping all over the place (dressed in my big coat and looking like all the other couch-potato people lol) π
