I knew it wouldn’t be fun. It’s cold and damp, there’s a lot of stress at home and I don’t think I’ll ever be a morning runner. But I ignored the aches and the Voices, even though they were with me all the way today, and I can tick off 7:2 on my list. Everyone running today, hope I’ve absorbed all the negative energy for you and that you all have PBs today 😄

Well done BcK for kicking those pesky voices little botties! You’re doing so well 👍🙂🙂

Partly thanks to E27M14, who discovered the Third Rule of C25k: Gremlins are slower than snails 😄

Well done! I felt the same this morning 7am, drizzling, 0c temp, and my first park Run! But braved it, knackered, but I did it! You will sail through now🤗

Great to hear you’ve done a Parkrun ! Not the nicest day for it at all. Well done you ⭐️

Another run done and dusted, congratulations BCK on completing run 2 of week 7 despite the weather being cold and damp, onwards and upwards to 7.3

ButtercupKid profile image
ButtercupKidGraduate in reply toAlMorr

That’s the idea ! Thought of you today as I spent a little time on the AlMorr Loop x

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate in reply toButtercupKid

O yes BCK the AlMorr Loop, if you look at my profile page on Healthunlocked C25K, the Al is short for Alan, the Morr is short for Morrison, hence the AlMorr.

I was running a little this morning, however, as I don't have a car I will just have to miss any parkruns as the nearest one is over 15 kilometers away. 😊

Regards

Alan

I did know where AlMorr came from, but the Alan Morrison Loop is a bit long when you’re out of breath ! Our nearest Parkrun is 30 miles off and I always have family commitments on Saturdays anyway, so I sympathise. Glad you got out for a bit anyway x

You went out so it wasn’t your worst ! Any run is better than none 😄

That is true. I am find it hard to get motivated recently but quitting would be the worst thing to do. Keep your posts coming, it's helping me along! 😁

Way to ignore the voices and push through the struggles! You are tougher than any pesky gremlin 💪

Well done BCK. Some runs are like that. We talk about hydration and nutrition and sleep, etc, but our worries too can piggyback our runs sometimes. I hope the stress diminishes for you 🤞

Thanks ktsok. Joys of having an autistic teenager - we’ll get there 😀

ktsok profile image
ktsokGraduate in reply toButtercupKid

Ah, that must provide challenges, beyond the usual teenage strife. Yes, I am sure you will get there, wherever there is! I have worked as an advocate with a few high-functioning autistic adults. Amazing individuals carving their unique pathways.

ButtercupKid profile image
ButtercupKidGraduate in reply toktsok

I’m autistic myself, so I completely understand. . . From both sides 😄

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate in reply toButtercupKid

I have a neighbour whose 5 year old son is autistic. To get better understanding of what autism is I am studying a Online course from the University of Kent through a website called 'Futurelearn' , the course is called

"Understanding Autism" on Futurelearn from Kent University.

ButtercupKid profile image
ButtercupKidGraduate in reply toAlMorr

I know FutureLearn well and thoroughly enjoyed the Understanding Autism course. Happy to help if any questions come up - just PM me 😀

ktsok profile image
ktsokGraduate in reply toButtercupKid

Sorry, should have said ‘with autism’ rather than autistic. Your son is fortunate he has someone who can understand his viewpoint 🙂

ButtercupKid profile image
ButtercupKidGraduate in reply toktsok

I know people can be touchy about terminology ! I prefer to say I’m autistic, rather than being with autism, because it’s part of who I am, not an add-on (or something infectious 😄). As to understanding my son because we’re both autistic, he’s actually much more like his dad (who is also autistic) and I guess I understand him about as well as most parents understand most teenagers I e in parts ! As they say, you’ve met one autistic person, you’ve met. . . one autistic person !

I’ll do my best for you 😄 Let me know when you’re done - I’d like to pass it on before I go for 7:3 !

Way to go BCK 😀🏃🏼‍♀️⭐️. Whoop whoop. Only just seen your post but hope you’ve kept hold of the negative energy. I am off out later so will test it out. You are doing brilliantly still 😀👏 My house has the lurgy which I have avoided until now I think. Am lying bed trying to work out if it’s the voices or does my throat seriously feel like sandpaper. Anyway. Will stop wittering on now. Hope today is a good day in your world 😀

ButtercupKid profile image
ButtercupKidGraduate in reply toWimborne

Sorry I couldn’t have held on to the lurgy too, but it doesn’t do to be too greedy ! Hope it’s gone again soon x

Wimborne profile image
Wimborne in reply toButtercupKid

I managed a run after all. My thinking was that if I am going to be ill i could just squeeze a quick hilly run in before the lurgy takes hold properly. I started some hill runs last weekend and did another one this morning. Hills are not my friend 😆. Have you decided on that big hill run yet?

ButtercupKid profile image
ButtercupKidGraduate in reply toWimborne

Hills are no-one’s friend, unless you happen to be a mountain goat. No, I haven’t made up my mind yet. I have to decide what it is I’m trying to prove and to whom. If it’s just for me, I don’t need the race, just the course. If it’s for anyone else, a medal would be useful. . .

Wimborne profile image
Wimborne in reply toButtercupKid

The word race is not my friend either 😊. Keep hold of your goals and keep them as yours 🏃🏼‍♀️.

Buttercup21 profile image
Buttercup21 in reply toButtercupKid

Yeah it's going alright, completed week 1 this morning. So week 2 starting on Tuesday, learnt the lesson today not to run after eating a meal! I've got work on a run day next week so trying to find a way to fit it in without just having an excuse not to run!

ButtercupKid profile image
ButtercupKidGraduate in reply toButtercup21

Good for you ! Yeah, most of the experienced runners say to leave at least two hours after a meal. We live and learn ! Hope you find a way to fit that run in, but don’t beat yourself up if it has to wait a little: it’s

Oops ! Meant to say, it’s not a disaster ! Husband is watching a western and I jumped when the gunfight started 😁
