I did run 3 yesterday. I felt really good at the start. After my 60 secs I felt that I could carry on. However the last 3 or 4 were really difficult. I managed it though. Looking forward to w2 now. I know I can push through the difficult sections. Does anybody have any tips for tight calf muscles? Any particular exercise that to do before starting the run? Thank you in advance. Keep it up everyone

Hi, congratulations on getting through week 1. Did w1r3 today myself - first run in the wind and rain so it felt like an initiation! - and found it easier than w1r2. I think that if you can convince yourself mentally that you can do it, the actual running bit becomes easier. Good luck with the rest of the programme.

On sore calves, I feel your pain. Others will know better but a foam roller works for me. A little painful to use but I'm not hobbling around with a knotted soleus any more. For under a tenner it's money well spent.

The other thing is the warm up and cool down. If you can, spend 15 minutes warning up before you set out and another fifteen afterwards. My cardio rehab nurses insist on it and it really makes a difference. DOMS isn't nice and loosening up before and after helps ease the pain.
