Question: Rest Days

I have been reading the links, but can’t find the answer. I have been running every other day, so I guess I’m running 7 times a fortnight, thinking that was what I should be doing, but should we be taking two consecutive rest days once a week (and keeping it chronological)?

I read a post earlier that said we should... obviously our bodies should be the ultimate guide, but I know a lot of effort has gone into designing this programme so wondered what the C25k advice is.

Thanks!

Don't know about everyone else I run Mon, wed, Fri as that suits me as long as you have rest days in between it's up to you what days you run 😊

You can do what suits you, at least one rest day betwen runs but add in an extra one if you feel the need or it suits life better. Enjoy😆

Either is fine. I think it was probably designed to be three sessions in a week, with runners keeping to the same days every week. Part of what the programme is good at, is instilling a habit and that is easier with regular days. But if you can maintain the habit while running every other day, then go for it 😊

As long as there’s a rest day between each run you’re good... it can be a 6 day week, 7, 8 maybe even 9 or 10

This is how I did it. Once I graduated/got comfortable with my runs I now relax the schedule by sometimes taking two or even three Rest days depending on circumstances. But - I NEVER run two consecutive days, no way will I risk that :)

I generally run every other day - which means I am doing more than some BUT I am only in the first few weeks - a second day of rest is my back up so I can take it if I want to. I think if I have had a long walk or been dancing, then 2 rest days with activity on them is OK. Hope that makes sense.

Yes it does. We are on the same schedule... what dancing do you do? I used to dance Argentine tango and a bit of salsa...

I do Ceroc (jive) - I have done salsa and tango in the past but Ceroc is just down the road for me. I have also just started ( 3 sessions in) adult ballet - which I have never done before but am really enjoying. week 5 tomorrow

Happy New Year!

Oooh very cool list of pursuits. Ceroc is very aerobic, you must be fit - and flexible! I looked into adult ballet a few years back, it’s such a great exercise for balance, strength, grace and flexibility, but there weren’t any classes near me. I think I’d snap now if I tried it!

Yes, week 5 is very much here... Post to come but... 👊 😉

Good luck later! X
