Err... “Running like a guy” similar book but short fast paced chapters with some blank pages in between to cover the injuries.

I don’t read many books that would interest anybody... law and trivia books mainly (yawn) maybe I should make reading my New Years resolution.

I only usually read on holiday but I have Audible (audiobooks) for my horrible commute to work, and get through at least one a month.

Makes 45 minutes each way in nose to tail traffic just a bit more bearable!

That’s where I go podcasts a lot... although where I live the traffic is that bad I could probably read a book, not sure the police would like it though.

Don't Stop me Now by Vassos Alexander. Made me realise I never want to run a marathon, but it might inspire you to do one!

His story of how he came to do marathons and Ironman, and lots of interesting information along the way

Added to the list. Sounds interesting. I tried Finding Ultra but couldn’t relate. The guy was overweight and unfit and did a detox and then just walked out the door and ran nearly 26 miles. This sounds much more relatable in spite of the immense achievements!

I liked Running Made Easy, by Lisa Jackson. Also her other book about her life as a writer and runner, Your Pace or Mine? Both are inspiring reads.

I liked Running Like a Girl so much I started it again as soon as I'd finished it. I've never done that with any other book!

I also very much liked Christopher McDougall's Born to Run, mentioned above, a lot. I often quote stuff I learned from it. It's chock full of interesting stuff.

And Vassos Alexander's Don't Stop Me Now, mentioned above, is very readable. But it certainly wouldn't make you think, "Hey, a marathon would be non-stop fun"! And it might be a bit worrying prior to your first marathon. :)

Lisa Jackson's Your Pace or Mine is great. She's run loads of marathons (and some ultra ones) - and been last in many of them. She has accepted her slowness and enjoys the people she meets, writing well about the whole business..

Your Pace or Mine - I definitely want to read that! I want inspiring slowness ;-)

Update: finished the excellent Running Like a Girl (loved it!) and on to Born to Run.

I'm going to look for this book, it sounds interesting. I haven't read, but will check out from my library "Running With a Police Escort: Tales from the Back of the Pack" by Jill Grunenwald.

Like the sound of that one: I shall pester my own friendly local librarian 😄

Irongran by Edwina Brocklesby and Just a Little Run Around the World by Rosie Swale Pope are also good and a little out of the ordinary.

Update: Born to Run is excellent. It's full of fascinating facts. I don't want to spoil it but there's a fair chance you will change your trainers, gait, technique, and maybe your diet, after reading this. Oh and you may give barefoot a go too. #awesome
