Week 5 run gsps

This is probably a daft question but..,I completed weeks 1-4 with roughly 1 days rest in between each run. Monday, Wednesday , Friday. Things are now getting busier and I need to lengthen the gaps to 3 days for week 5. It’s just a very busy week. Is this ok . I’ve just completed W5R1 with no problems.

Life gets in the way sometimes, and you should be fine. My rest days have been pretty erratic throughout the whole program, as long as you're not running on consecutive days all should be well.

I’ve missed a few days in between definitely need a rest day but wouldn’t try to leave it too long as it’s all about gradually building the minds runset.

Absolutely it's ok...an extra rest day is sometimes the best thing...especially as you work through the programme..and it'll give your legs a good rest 😉

You’re gonna be fine with extra rest days, the only way adapting to our schedules is bad is skipping rest day.

You mean you have a life outside of this running malarkey??!! 😁

Damn cheek if you ask me!

Seriously though.... You will be fine 👍

Might even have better runs because of it? You never know?

Enjoy 🏃

Tell me about it Nita49. I have felt as if that’s all I have to do and yet I am still struggling with it. Struggled to start w8r1 which I did yesterday.

Keep it up you all guys🏃🏾‍♀️🏃🏾‍♀️

To be fair, I’m trying to juggle the runs to fit around the training my husband is doing for two back to back 5k runs this weekend. He’s happy to jog along with me but it’s getting serious now and he can’t to the 20 min with me , which he wants to do on Friday and the 2 5ks. After week he says he will drop one of his training runs when/ if I get to the 25 min runs.

Aye you'll be fine. If you're running even twice a week that'll keep you going in the short term until you have more time: no need to repeat runs or anything like that.

Thanks,it’s his 50th Parkrun on Saturday so it’s a bit special and important he does it. I’m looking forward to the day I can join him.

So go with him on Saturday then? Join him for his special day. Don’t run it all, just do whatever run of the programme is due and power walk the rest of the 5k. You can do that at parkrun - some people walk all the way. Week 5 runs involve between 15 and 20 minutes of running and believe me, if you run that length of time and walk fast for the rest you won’t finish last or anywhere near.

That’s an excellent idea.
