Any advice on breaking 45 mins would be most welcome. I have fuel in the tank, just seem to start breathing heavier, thinking negatively, and telling myself I have done well when nearing 45 mins.
Thanks in advance 👍

What kind of plan are you following? Do you have some shorter runs too? I do all my long runs with Nike+ Run Club guided runs... they go up to 90 minutes and the coaches and running legends keep it interesting.
Hi Unfitnomore
I think that’s been my problem........ I have not got a plan..... I stumbled on this forum quite by accident.......
Took me 6 months or thereabouts to start running and completing 30 minutes. Having read some posts, I noticed the information that is shared, seemed to resonate with my experiences.
I can now complete 5k’s around the 28 and a half minute mark. I had been thinking I wanted to run 5k’s under 28 mins but have been steered to run for longer rather than quicker, which was proving a little difficult.
You mention the Nike + plans? Are these popular amongst the community? I would really enjoy the opportunity of improving on the same plan as others.
Thanks in advance of further advice.
😎
Well, any plan to speed you up will include going longer.
Nike has some fans, not necessarily on this forum, mainly on bridge to 10k. The advantage of it is it gives adaptive plans for free and guided runs too.
There are of course options... going to 10k will almost certainly make up faster over 5k, going for a fast 5k will almost certainly have you run 10k+... the only difference will be the focus.
I decided to go faster 5k partially because of the time of year, and yet I get to 8k next week 😂
Ju-ju-‘s plan is probably the best for getting to 10k running from 3x5k weekly, I’d have joined that if I’d graduated in the summer I think.
Not sure after Christmas as to whether to start a 5/10k race plan or jump onto the ju-ju-plan mid way through.
You could try downloading footpath, app, you can preplan your route with accurate distance, concentrate on increasing distance rather than running to a time, you can plan a circular run and tweak it to increase distance and then start afresh when you are bored with that route, beats clock watching, remember to keep to the 10% rule, happy running
