Lots of causes. Are you ever thirsty? How do your feet land? Are you in good properly fitted running shoes? Have you tried a foam roller? Slowing down a little?
Ha. If I go any slower it will be a walk.. 😅
Yes proper running shoes..to be fair they hurt when I'm waking and are generally very tight. Despite lots of stretching . Maybe I'll try drinking a bit more. Thanks.
Foam rolling may help... there’s a layer that wraps the muscles that can hold the muscle tight as it develops, rolling or deep muscle massage loosens it up.
I sip water all day every day and I’m never thirsty after my morning cuppa... I was told that thirsty means you’re already dehydrated, and muscles use lots of water.
That’s great to hear - my week 4 Run 1 is scheduled for tonight!! 😬
I reckon weeks 4 & definitely 5 are probably the big step ups looking at the schedule.
It’s all good though!
Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5... which gives links to stretches for both pre and post run.
Enjoy your journey.
Lots of things will help but bottom line is you are using muscles that are not accustomed to that level of work.
Remember that aches etc are normal in this scenario. Real pain is a warning.
