W8R1 ... after an 8 week break! 🤣

I completed W7R3 at the end of my 7th week on the C25K programme which was in the back end of Sept.

I then went on holiday and caught the vilest of vile chest infections which drained the life out of me for about 5-6wks. Walking short distances was exertion enough, progressing on C25K was not an option.

You can get out of the habit of jogging and that’s what happened I’ve felt fine for the past 2 weeks but have found every excuse going why not to get back to it ... where do I pick up the programme for starters?

I decided today was the day, no more excuses, so I set the app to W8R1 with the intention of seeing where it got me. I’d have been a bit disappointed with 5 minutes but quite happy with 10 minutes ... but after 10 munutes, I felt great and knew I could do the full 28 mins WHICH I DID ... and it was comfortable, unlike almost every session from W1R1 through to W7R3

How can that be? Well, the chest infection from hell made me give up cigarettes after decades of smoking. I just can’t believe how comfortable W8R1 was after an 8 week break from jogging and I’m so, so elated. 👍🏻😊

Amazing run. You will have certainly lost a little fitness, but week 7 being consolidation on the previous 6 will have raised it beyond 25 minutes worth. The rest will have done the legs good too. All that said, I’m amazed that you completed it comfortably... very well done.

Thanks. What I lost in fitness, I must have made up for in lung capacity. 👍🏻

I sometimes find first run after a break fine but the 2nd a killer!!! Don’t be too down if it is!! I’ve had a nasty cough and lost all motivation and it’s only 2 weeks - you’ve reminded me it might not that bad so thanks for the upbeat message I feel like I might be able to get up and go again 🏃🏼‍♀️

Go for it! I’d all but decided I’d blown it after 8 weeks off so was shocked when I did a comfortable 28 minutes. Good luck 😉
