If you are not getting any pleasure from your running at this stage, you may be doing something wrong, most likely pushing too hard.

Try slowing down. Can you speak full ungasping sentences as you run? If not you are going too fast, stressing your body unnecessarily and probably getting exhausted to boot.

Have you tried running somewhere beautiful and uplifting? Trudging the streets is not very life affirming.

It is highly unlikely that you will persevere with running in the future if you don't get some pleasure out of it, so discovering the joy is a crucial part of the secret of continuing.

I think I might be going too fast but I find it difficult to rein it back. I do get a sense of accomplishment after a run so that’s what gets me out there.

But coming up to graduation must give you a bit of a boost?

We will all be here to cheer you on and congratulate you when you graduate this Saturday.

Out of interest, are you varying your route?

Can you get a run buddy to go with you?

This time of year may also be having an influence on mood.

And remember that many a happy runner has bad runs.

Good luck Unfit53!

Thanks 🐱 it does & I do feel better for running. Think I might need to try & slow it down a tad

Sound plan. See it through πŸ† then consider running jog-run-jog intervals where you can deliberately run fast for a bit then go back to slow. And repeat.

You might want to reduce the total running time if you add some increased speed to your runs or you may end up on the dreaded injury couch! πŸš‘

Take care! 😸

Great run. You’ll enjoy it soon, consolidation is all about making it comfortable before you move on... when it’s comfortable you can let your mind wonder to other things as you run, and those runs are amazing.

I must admit that I found every run in the programme damned hard, and didn't really enjoy any of them. But the buzz I got from completing each one was enough to keep me going.

Once I graduated though and consolidated, it started to feel much easier. Now I enjoy the actual running (mostly!). Planning new routes and setting new targets keeps me motivated - you just need to find your motivation and it will seem more like fun and less of a chore.

And good luck with your graduation run!
